Three topics were discussed in this program including increasing cooperation between Pakistan, US in the areas of health, measures taken by government to protect livelihoods of people, and China’s reiteration to work with Pakistan to push forward CPEC projects.
Speaking in the program, leading IR expert Dr Huma Baqai said Pak-US relations have not been on smooth track for the last many years. She appreciated the visit of Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel to the United States to improve bilateral relations between Islamabad and Washington.
Former Ambassador Ali Sarwar Naqvi said the US is the biggest destination of Pakistani exports and bilateral trade is another area where Pakistan can further enhance its ties with Washington.
Renowned industrialist and economist Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig said if we want to keep the industry vibrant, cheaper or free of cost electricity must be provided. He said the government is taking some tough decisions to stabilize the economy in order to bring it on the right track.
Expert on CPEC Dr Manzoor Khan Afridi said China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a comprehensive project aimed to uplift the regional economy. He said CPEC is aimed at enhancing connectivity and trade linkages between Pakistan, China and the rest of the region through a network of roads, rail, fibre optic cables, energy pipelines, industrial clusters and Special Economic Zones.
