Three topics were discussed in today’s program including government’s initiatives to stabilize economy, commitment of China and Pakistan to speed up work on CPEC and India’s grave human rights violations in IIOJ&K.
Speaking in the program, renowned economist Mirza Ikhtiar Baig said most serious challenge to the country is depreciating rupee that has been sliding downwards for quite some time. He urged the government to encourage more foreign remittances and increase our exports.
Political Economist Dr Noor Fatima said reduction in import bill will benefit the economy in the short term. She said we need to diversify our trade and exports to earn more to turn the balance of trade in our favor.
IR Expert Dr Talat Shabbir said it is high time that both China and Pakistan should speed up work on CPEC projects. He said it is very critical stage of Pak, China relations and both should work hard to make CPEC successful.
Distinguished economist Dr Talat Anwar said it is a good development that China is giving training to Pakistani officials regarding OBOR and CPEC. He said the government is focusing on infrastructure development to boost connectivity and economy.
